Belize Orchid Adventure

Below are some pictures from my 2005 and 2006 trips to southern Belize (Punta Gorda area/Toledo District).
These orchids were photographed growing in the "wild".  It is very interesting to see how orchids grow naturally.

Schomburgkia brysiana. Note the large termite nest in the background.

Not sure on this one. Either Schomburgkia tibicinis or a natural hybrid of tibicinis and brysiana.

Catasetum integerrimum in bloom.

Epidendrum rigidum in bloom.

A yellow flowered Lycaste in bloom (just to the right of center).

Nidema boothii. A common orchid in southern Belize.

Believed to be Pleurothallis tribuloides. It has very small red flowers.

Not an orchid, but a nice Bromeliad growing deep in the jungle.

Belizian Hummingbirds

Not an orchid, but a beautiful Heliconia
